三足烏 – 삼족오 – Sam jok oh – Three Legged crow
What is Sam Jok Oh?
Sam Jok Oh (Three Legged Crow) is the National Symbol of an Ancient Korean Kingdom called Goguryo in the Manchurian region today
Mythic Origins
The Legend of the Sam Jok Oh
It is a Sun God, and in an ancient Goguryo tomb murals, the mythic Three Legged Crow is in the middle, symbolizing divine authority. Surrounding it are the 4 gods – White Tiger on the West, Blue Dragon on the East, Red Scarlet on the South and Snake Turtle on the North
Sam Jok Oh was originally a White bird, but to bear the sin of the people, it flew into the sun and burned itself to death, only to rise back from its own ashes as a Black Bird with Three Legs!
Doesn’t this sound like something you know already?

Holy Trinity and Three Legged Crow, Sam Jok Oh
Idea of 3 and bird bind Sam Jok Oh and Holy Trinity together firmly because Trinity is 3, and the Bible is heavily invested in the BIRDS if you just think about it…
Angels are BIRDS
Noah sent out BIRDS during the Great Flood to check out the water level
Evil Snake tricked Adam into eating the Apple in the Bible because they are natural predator to BIRDS in the real life
So 3 and a bird are repeated ideology found in Sam Jok Oh and Holy Trinity!
Then why? How is Ancient Korean Sam Jok Oh connecting to the story of Israeli and the Bible?

If you see the picture on the left, you see 3 letters that are in different color
Circle is Sky (천) – the Infinite Creator, the Father
Box is Land (지) – the Finite Nurturer, the Mother
And when these two meet, it forms a Triangle, which is a Person (인)

Or Dharmakaya / Sambhogakaya / Nirmanakaya from Buddhism?
They all seem to be saying the same thing…

I hope these seemingly outrage stance and angles of interpretations can help provide a new fresh perspective on Korean history that even Koreans don’t know.
